Every check green. Then sign and lock.

Year-End Sign-off is the clipboard an accountant runs before closing a period: one row per check, a traffic light beside each, the reason when it is not green, and a click straight to the report or screen that fixes it.

What is checked

• Books balance: trial balance balances; assets equal liabilities plus equity.
• Bank and cash: no bank or cash account below zero; Undeposited Funds cleared; suspense and clearing accounts at zero.
• Sub-ledgers: receivables and payables agree with open invoices and bills; no stock item below zero.
• Sales tax: no GST/HST line still waiting for an amount; returns filed for the period.
• Payroll: every pay run posted; source deductions remitted to the CRA.
• Housekeeping: no journal entries left in draft; no quick entries dated before the period; fiscal periods locked through the period end.
• Audit tests: the Audit Exceptions report run over the period: duplicates, round amounts, weekend postings, backdated entries.

How it works

• Pick the period. Each check shows green (pass), amber (review) or red (fix), with the reason in plain words.
• Open any red or amber row and it takes you to the report or entry concerned. Correct it, come back, and watch the light change.
• When every check is green, the decision reads "ready". Enter the reviewer's name and a note, sign, and the period locks so nothing dated inside it can be posted.
• Every sign-off is kept: who signed, when, what the lights said, and the note. A period can be signed again after a correction, and the history stays.
